<description>Yeah, I can't do anything about the sky being Carolina blue, but the chrome is really shiny and really pretty :) We will be careful :) and I'll update Twitter while we're gone - here too hopefully if we stop somewhere that has internet access!</description>

<description>That must be so hard - like getting different diagnosis from 2 different doctors. I am glad you have one you are really happy with. That gives you hope to see someone caring!

My girls are in 5th and 6th this year. The younger one is trying to sneak on makeup and the oldest couldn't care less! Teachers are okay though. We tried out the public charter school and have been happy.

Take care,

<description>Wow, I just read this and it almost made me cry! I totally understand how you are feeling. We had a horrendous time last year at my son's school. It was so stressful. I was getting calls EVERY day and I kept saying, "I think he needs to be tested" and the school kept saying "oh no, he just doesn't listen" and finally in January they tested him (after the millionth call home and my FREAK OUT) and they were like, "You were right. He needs to be in learning support." Well, duh! DUH DUH DUH! Sorry to let out all my anger on this comment. I will pray for you this year! Our school doesn't start until Tuesday (if the teachers don't go on strike) but I am getting nervous all ready!

<description>Hi Lisa. We are experiencing some of the same problems.

I am at the point of wanting to homeschool. I never thought I would hear myself say that. DH and I don't agree on this point, though, so I'm still trudging through and hoping and praying for the best.

My daughter is in 2nd grade. In my mind, the expectations and requirements are too high.

Another thing that really bugs me, and I mean really sets me off, is that I think the kids are expected to act and be older than they really are.

For 2nd grade, they are 7 and 8. That's just not that old. They are still small children, not little adults, and they shouldn't be expected to act as such.

I don't know the answer. I agree that I wouldn't have the job. I know the teachers are overworked and underpaid. Still, my tax dollars go to support public schools of which my daughter attends.

I am not an uninvolved parent. I volunteer once per week, and I serve on the PTA board. I am in the school. I know the teachers, and I know the staff. Overall, my daughter goes to a very good school, but she is not happy, and neither am I.

I am trying to help her resolve issues. I try to support the teacher to my daughter. I try the very best I can not to be negative, but something is broken, and I don't know how to fix it.

<description>Wow. It does sound grim. Well, with Ms. Teacher, at least. Just goes to show what a difference a teacher can make. And I loved the U-shape in my classroom. Hated the groups. And I totally agree about the 0. Inappropriate punishment. Sigh.

So far we've been happy with our teachers, but I just keep waiting for the year we get a doozy. It's bound to happen. :-(

<description>I know some really incredible teachers who happen to teach in public schools, but they are few and far between anymore, sadly.

Some teachers (as with any profession) are only there to draw a paycheck and really do not care to go above and beyond the least that is expected of them.

Too bad you can't request nicely that Doodle be moved to another class...it sounds like she really needs out of Ms Teacher's classroom. Fortunately, kids are resilient...and 4th grade isn't high school, where every grade counts. :) Maybe she'll move on up another few spots so she can get into the charter school you're looking at! :)
