We interrupt this fashion posts for an update on vacation. We (well, I) survived the parks.
I was born in West Virginia (save all the WV jokes, I know them ALL). We used to go to my Mammaw’s deeper in the mountains. I would always have to take a Dramamine before we went because I get really car sick, really easy. Back in those golden days though, I could take the Dramamine and fall asleep stretched across the back seat of the car with my blankets and pillows.
Anyway, Dramamine and I are definitely good friends, but it had been so long since we’ve seen each other. Knowing that Duck and Doodle love to ride the roller coasters, I decided to have my buddy tag along. Boy, I’m glad I did! Rides like the Scrambler (where you are slung side-to-side) usually make me want to lose my breakfast, but I actually enjoyed it. Bring on the roller coasters!
Our first day at the park Wednesday was not such a great day. It was drizzly which was ok, except it was kinda cold too. If it were a little hotter, I think Doodle and I would have been ok. But we rode a few of the water rides and got soaked. The only problem was we couldn’t get dry — and then many of the places had their air conditioner blasting or fans going. Normally that would be awesome, but it practically froze us. We ended up leaving early and going back to the indoor pool.
Thursday we went to the water park most of the day and had a great time. The best part was the park’s Lazy River. Doodle swam and swam and swam. Duck and I floated and floated and floated. Toward’s the afternoon it started to get a little cloudy and when the wind blew, it was a little cold on wet hair. I suggested we go back to the park to ride the roller coasters we’d missed the day before, and I’m glad I did. We did have to make a pitstop at the gas station for some more Dramamine. I’d left my buddy in the room thinking I definitely can handle water rides without her.
Doodle was just big enough this year to ride two more roller coasters and they were doozies! One was the highest roller coaster in the park — and I’m thinking the whole world. I’m a little chicken when it comes to being very high up in the air, so I kept my eyes closed until we were falling down, down, down. Then I screamed like a little girl — for the entire ride. There was another coaster that went through 2 loops. That one was cool. Thanks to the Dramamine, I enjoyed that one as it didn’t seem to jerk my head around.
Unfortunately when we got back to the hotel Thursday, the internet was down. How could they? I know. It was down Friday too. But, we packed up and came home and are recooperating.
Roxie asked if I got any tops, and yes, I did
More pictures and stuff to come. Just wanted to let y’all know I’m still alive ![]()
