I usually pride myself on being “up” on all the cool things — especially when it has to do with the Internet. But I only have so much time in my day and I really need to prioritize. I have a MySpace page, although I don’t know why. I don’t log in there. I don’t go leave comments for my buddies. I forget.
I heard several of my online buddies saying Twitter is the next greatest thing. I mean you have 140 characters to share what you are doing at any given point in time. It’s all about following and being followed which totally makes me think of stalkers. But if you are following people, you get their updates. If people follow you, they see your updates. Oh, but then your updates can be public for anyone to see. AND you can put the updates on your blog (you may have noticed towards the bottom of my sidebar there — those are my Twitter updates).
I can see some good things come from this as I think I’ve been able to help others who’ve asked questions. I’ve gotten a few connections I would not have otherwise gotten — promoting simply His blogger. But I’m growing weary of many of the updates. Some people post a little too much information — in my not so humble opinion. It’s like when everyone started blogging — you find out what they eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I suppose I have to be really careful who I follow — and what kind of updates they may share.
Being careful of who I follow got me thinking about my updates. What kinds of things should I really put in there? What do people who might follow me care about? I have about as much of an idea what my followers want to see in Twitter as I do to what you want to read here — and that’s not much!
If you have some good things to share about Twitter, let me know. Give me some ideas on how to use it well. Because as of right now, it’s simply another thing to suck away time from laundry, dishes and cleaning the house — which is not to say it’s a total waste of time
Oh, and if you want to follow my ramblings, I think you can follow me here.

Lisa,
Thank you so much for your response to my question about printing a blog post. When I go to file and then print preview I get a big blank gray screen. I can see that moving the document to microsoft word would be much easier for me to figure out. I will send the blogger who asked me the question over to you tomorrow and hopefully your wonderful tutorial will help her! Thanks for being so generous with your computer knowledge for those of us who just don’t really get it but we blunder along anyway!

Seriously. SERIOUSLY.
Sometimes I wonder about Tweets that tweet stuff that seem to obviously REQUIRE IMMEDIATE ATTENTION and I want to scream (IN ALL CAPS) - “WHY ARE YOU TWITTERING?! GO DO YOUR JOB!!!”
But, whatever.
You mean, I’m not supposed to tell the world when I’ve finished consuming my 4th corndog for the day?
I had no idea….
Thank you for clearing that up for me…

I understand where you’re coming from. When I first signed up for Twitter I was somewhat bored with it and a little frustrated with what some people were saying. However, I have switched my approach to Twitter to more of a networking gadget. I’ve adjusted my following to people who can give insight to things I’m interested in and who are “on the edge” of technology. I’m still going to run into people who say things that I think are TMI (language, topic of discussion); some I’ve even stopped following. I think everyone should make Twitter to whatever fits their needs. On the social aspect I do love the idea of all these people in one big chat room. A bit like a meet and greet gathering.
I do enjoy your insights and comments on Twitter. Biasly, I hope you continue.

I don’t twitter or tweet or whatever, but I kind of find it both fascinating and weird. And truly, to be totallly honest, I don’t really get it.
Having said that, some of my favorite blog posts are the random day in the life of ______. I read blogs for a connection to the outside world and to be inspired to be a better wife and mama. I blog to keep perspective on my own life. Of course, I like the random fun such as giveaways, product reviews, memes, etc. However, I just don’t see where Twitter fits in. It seems completely social, and that is fine, but for me personally, I prefer blogging.
Of course, I reserve the right to totally eat my words at any point in the near future.
Nice blog, by the way.
Have a great weekend.

Hi,
I’m Audrey. I found you through MommyFest. Though it’s over, I’m loving still reading blogs and meeting others.
I have a MySpace page and I have a Facebook site, but I haven’t done the twitter thing yet. Like you…there are only so many hours in each day

Hi, new here, found you through Musings of a Housewife.
I recently joined twitter, and thought I will not really use it unless I am doing something simply fabulous that I simply MUST share. Didn’t see much of an opportunity in my normal like as a sahm - school runs, laundry…..
However, we have just been to PARIS with NO KIDS for 4 days, and I thought - perfect opportunity to Twitter. I faithfully send lots of fascinating tweets (?) and got home to check and……nothing! None of them received! I will do a summary of my tweets on my blog later today, so everyone can see what they didn’t miss.

I got a little sick of all the trivia on Twitter too, to be honest.
So I signed up with Twitterfeed & it automatically tweets the title and link of new posts from my blog for me.
But I just found this new micro~blogging thingy called Plurk….
