Christmas 2007 - Part 3: You got me what?

Me Surprised

Duck is sneaky. He got me good this year. I thought he was going to buy me much needed underwear — he even called me one day asking me questions about sizes. So while I was unwrapping gifts, I came across a cd case with a picture and a note inside it. When I was opening it, I had assumed he’d just left my underwear at home — since we were at his parents house opening gifts. I figured he didn’t want to embarrass me, but come to think of it, he never holds back on embarrassing me so why should he have started now?

The note said this: “It ain’t a Harley but it is a start. Learn to ride it. Take the class. Get your license and we’ll buy you a Harley!”

Me Bike

I’ve been quite frustrated talking with Duck about motorcycles. I wanted to wait and take the class in March, get my license, and start out on a used Harley Sportster (a smaller line of their motorcycles). I kept telling him that I didn’t want a dirt bike, but he didn’t listen. And now I have to say “Duck, you are right — yet again!” He showed me how to ride it, and it took a little getting used to but I was zooming around the yard headed for trees in no time!

Now the really sneaky part is that Duck had to ask his parents to borrow the money so I wouldn’t know he’d bought it — I do the finances around here so if he’d need the cash, he would’ve had to tell me what it’s for.

I already knew Santa was bringing Doodle a motorcycle on Christmas morning, but my bike really caught me off guard. I am thankful that I’m learning on this instead of a bigger bike — my glove got caught on the throttle a few times and the bike took off with a jerk. I can’t imagine doing that on a big bike!

Thanks My Genius Better Half. I’m glad you’re looking out for me :)
