I am offended by my local city government. I am offended that they called it a “Holiday Parade” and “Join us for the lighting of the Holiday Tree.” I’m not sure what I can do — I’m not really an activist-type. Maybe write some letters to the town council? Or maybe I just need to talk more to the other mothers at school — some of who are married to those in city government. What are they thinking?

I want to get a sweatshirt that says “Wish me a Merry CHRISTmas or I’ll be offended!” Something like that. I know it’s too wordy But right now I just wish it was more like when I was growing up. Christmas lights on the houses — Christmas trees in the houses — I actually got to be in a Christmas parade one time! Well, it was for a newspaper I was interning for — they all thought I was some reporter or something!

Remember the reason for the season and tell everyone you see Merry CHRISTmas — especially those employees who have to say Happy Holidays. I’m not going to have a Happy Holiday, but I will have a Merry CHRISTmas
