One reason we are so harried and hurried is that we make yesterday and tomorrow our business, when all that legitimately concerns us is today. If we really have too much to do, there are some items on the agenda which God did not put there. Let us submit the list to Him and ask Him to indicate which items we must delete. There is always time to do the will of God. If we are too busy to do that, we are too busy.

Christian Women Online have this weekly meme called In “other” Words. I decided to participate this week. You can check out what others have to say about this quote and to add your take on it at To Motherhood And Beyond.
This quote is very applicable to everyone right now as the holiday season has officially started. My schedule — what I should be doing every day — is a constant struggle for me. Will I waste hours in front of my computer reading blog posts? Will I clean the kitchen? fold the laundry? Do I have any important appointments I have to be at? I know (because I’ve done it before) the days that I start with God — a simple, quiet time — asking Him to lead me in what I need to accomplish today, well, those days are simply the best. They may not go as I have planned, but I have peace inside me about what I’m doing. I’m concentrating only on what I’m doing at the moment — not thinking about all the other things I could be doing. It is so super easy to get distracted though. To sit down and “just check email” which ends up taking way too long.
I love the line above where she says “There is always time to do the will of God.” It’s so true. God is not going to give us more “stuff” to do than we have time to do. If we start putting our own “stuff to do” in there though, His will gets crowded out. Give your to do list to God. Pray about each and every little thing on it. He cares about the details!
Starting in January I’m going to be going through Elizabeth George’s Life Management for Busy Women. I figure that’s a great time to start it as many look to goals, dreams and wishes during the New Year. If you’d like to join me, go ahead and sign up in the forums. I’ll send you a notification when we’re getting ready to start. It doesn’t matter what time zone you’re in. It doesn’t matter when you do the study. Just sign up and participate on the forum. I’d love to have you join me. God gives different insights to different people. I know we can learn a lot from each other!

Finding the balance is definitely the key. Bless you for sharing. And may God shine on your study beginning in January.
It is true that the days we dedicate to the Lord are the best. Ahh I’m such a slow learner sometimes. Praying for God’s blessings on our plans in the days to come. God bless you and yours….
This is a very timely message. Thank you so much for sharing and I will be sure to check out that book!
Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom!
Thanks for this timely word! This is what I have been praying for lately. Balance! Doing God’s will not mine. I feel like I need to learn it not only for myself, but for my children. I am already instilling in them a need to rush and get everything done. I want them to be able to sit and wait and hear from God. I guess I need to start modeling that!
