Doodle got into a little bit of trouble — again today. She is so like me. If someone does something that gets under her skin, she physically lashes out. She hit this kid upside the head in class — not 5 minutes after I dropped her off. The teacher made her call Duck at work (I had forgotten my cell at home and went to workout so they couldn’t get me). I think the teacher’s hoping that would deter her from doing this again — did I mention she got in trouble a few weeks ago on the playground? It seems some girls raced her and another kid to the swings. When these other girls beat them, they started taunting Doodle and her buddy in crime. Doodle picked up a football and threw it at one of the girls — hitting her in the stomach. My first reaction? Good aim! Ain’t that terrible?
I read this morning “I can’t fix this” by Rachel Anne over at Writer … Interrupted. She talks about the pain of not being able to fix stuff for her husband — which I can totally relate (although when I try to fix something for him it ends up causing him more work!) — but I also want to fix stuff for my daughter. She got her lashing out from me though and I can’t fix it. All I can do is pray.
