Captain My Genius Better Half: “Houston, we have a problem.”

My good buddy Dale @ Whatever You Want Honey wrote about Side Seat Driving today. I wrote a comment on his post, but then thought — I’ve just got to post it here for all of you to read :) So read his post then come back here — I’ll wait.

You *were* spying on us during our vacation weren’t you?

Just kidding. We just got home today and I’m catching up on my buddies — I’ve missed y’all! But I absolutely had to laugh when I read this! This was so us — especially trying to find the airport. First, Duck asks me how we get back to the airport. I say, let me get the map (an actual printed map not from an online source, but not necessarily accurate either). Next, Duck makes a crack about my ability (or lack of) to read a map. Ah, the pressure. I love my family…I love my family…I was so ready to be home :D

I *wish* he would’ve just felt his way there — not only do I get car sick when trying to read *anything* — it doesn’t help that he’s always right. But I look at the map, tell him a few turns, then I figured out the best way to get to the airport.

“You just took me around the block, didn’t you?” Duck (My Genius Better Half) observes.

“Why, yes. Yes I did. But only because I didn’t figure out the best way to go until we were already halfway around the block” I answered.

Hey, we got home and we’re just all so dern happy to be here that we’re all sleeping in our own beds tonight — no sleeping in the Galley ;)

And to make this comment even longer … I’ll share with you that this Navigator used to have a keen memory and excellent sense of direction — that was until I married My Genius Better Half who is always right. That nagging little fact seems to through my senses into a whirlwind!

I really have given up on trying to navigate anywhere we go. I just relax and enjoy the ride as much as I possibly can. If we’re late, we’re running on Boyd time. If we’re early, it’s a miracle! If we get lost, there’s always interesting scenery.

Missed me? We’ve been on vacation — for SEVEN days! The 3 of us — who hardly spend a couple of hours together in a week, spent 7 days in Orlando, FL. Oh the tales I have to tell. More to come when I can actually think again later this week — you know, when Doodle goes to grandparents and Duck’s back at work. I love my family…I love my family…I love my family…
