Heather @ Desperately Seeking Sanity tagged me like — what? a month ago? — to do this, and I’m now just getting to the point where I’m using it to keep from doing other things I don’t want to do worse than this
- I was born in Princeton, West Virginia, and yes I have heard all the West Virginia jokes. My parents and I moved to North Carolina when I was 11 and I held it against them for years. I understood why we moved, but I had a hard time adjusting for quite awhile. I’m SO thankful we moved though!
- I used to have a rat tail — you know, that little piece of hair braided that you let grow longer than the rest of your hair? I’m not as together as Heather and her latest meme (about teenage years), so I’ll have to hunt for pictures and see if I can find any that show it off.
- I gained 68 pounds when I was pregnant with my daughter. It was the first time in my life I ever enjoyed eating food. The 38th week’s checkup was with a woman Dr who told me I needed to stop eating for 2, that it was going to be difficult to lose the weight after the baby was born. The next week’s checkup was with a man who said my weight was perfect. FYI – after I had my daughter, I did lose all of the 68 pounds. I have, however, started to put back on some of the padding — and no, I’m not pregnant again!
- I love to play softball. I still remember playing on a church softball team with my Dad. That was special to me. He soon “retired” from ball and just came to watch me play all the time. When I met my husband, he was playing softball 7 nights a week. I really learned how to play ball then. I don’t play as well as I did a few years ago, but I’m still trying. It’s exercise.
- I used to think I was God’s gift to men. Now I just know I’m God’s gift to Howard
When he first saw me, I ignored him. I was so stuck on myself. He went home and asked his mom how to get my attention. She said for him to ignore me and dance with all my friends (this was in a country bar doing line dances and two-steppin’). A few weeks later, we were dating. A few years later, we were married. Almost 11 years now we’re still together. Thanks Mom2! - I once dressed up like the Domino’s Pizza Noid for a newspaper promotional event. You know that red creature that bounced on Domino’s Pizza on commercials? Yeah, that’s definitely a picture I’ll have to find.
- When we lived in West Virginia, we used to have a horse Girlie. My older sister (10 years older than me) used to ride Girlie with ease around the Big Field next to our house. I wanted to be like her, and somehow I convinced Dad to let me take Girlie around the field one time without him leading her. I was trying to show off (acting grown) and didn’t have a hold of the reins good. Girlie took off and I fell off. I didn’t get hurt, just the wind knocked out of me. I was sad though because not too long after that we sold Girlie.
Geez, that was a little difficult to come up with random stuff. Heather’s already tagged the people I think will answer so I’m going to have to think about who I can tag.
